The curfew at National Harbor was reinstated on Friday night. While there have been fewer incidents compared to last year, police, residents, and business owners support the curfew to prevent issues from escalating.
Under the curfew, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult after 5 PM on Fridays and Saturdays at National Harbor. Many employees and residents support the decision.“I don’t want to take away from the youth coming here, but after hours, you’re up to no good,” said Cathy Peters of Clinton. Kason Bibbins, who works at National Harbor, added, “People live here. People come here with their families. They don’t need to have some drama going on while they’re here enjoying themselves.”
Prince George’s County Police Chief Malik Aziz stated that the curfew was reinstated at the request of residents and business owners. “They looked and said, ‘It’s time to implement it again,’” Aziz said. “Just to make sure that it’s safe for the residents who live there, who work there, and for the many visitors who come to be entertained.”
