Loudoun County supervisor resigns and apologizes after assault charges

Loudoun County, Virginia supervisor Shawn Williams resigned Sunday from his position as the Broad Run District representative after being requested to by board chairman Scott York.  Williams was arrested Sunday morning on charges of assault and unlawful entry filed against him by his neighbor, whose identity has not yet been made public. Williams, who has a history of drunken driving and domestic violence, cites his alcohol abuse as motive, stating that “it has become painfully clear I need help with my alcohol abuse and [will be]getting professional help.”
