Actress and director Quinta Brunson has filed for divorce from her husband, Jay Anik. Brunson, best known for creating and starring in Abbott Elementary, filed for dissolution of marriage on Thursday in a Los Angeles courthouse, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. However, she did not specify a date of separation.
The divorce petition confirms that Brunson and Anik had a postnuptial agreement governing the division of their property.
The couple got engaged in 2020, according to a social media post from Brunson’s Instagram, and married in 2021. They have no children, according to court documents. Throughout their relationship, they maintained a relatively private life, with Brunson rarely discussing Anik publicly. One of the few times she spoke about him was during a 2022 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she described Anik as a major source of support. “My husband—there’s no need to dim me at all,” she said. “That allows me to love him fully and be the person I want to be and am meant to be.”
