Mariah Carey cancels night of Vegas residency

Three shows into her Las Vegas residency, legendary R&B/Pop vocalist Mariah Carey announced that a sudden onset of bronchitis caused her to cancel a Wednesday night show. Carey was scheduled to perform eighteen shows (at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace) in May and July on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays before this week’s cancellation. A publicist for Carey confirmed Thursday that a physician diagnosed the pop icon with a bronchial infection. Chris Chambers with the Chamber Group stated the singer (famous for her five-octave vocal range) will be back on stage Saturday and Sunday and will still perform at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. Chambers did not say if Carey’s canceled performance would be re-scheduled. Carey is the latest to join The Colosseum’s roster, coinciding with the release of her greatest hits compilation “Number 1 to Infinity” on May 15 through Sony Music Entertainment.
