Arrest made after 3 banks robbed in Montgomery County

A male suspect was arrested in Glenarden in connection to the 3 banks robbed on Thursday. Montgomery County Police Officer Rick Goodale says the banks were within 4 miles apart from each other and were robbed 15 minutes apart. The first bank attacked was the Chevy Chase SunTrust on Connecticut Avenue at 11:20 a.m. Ten minutes later, the Chevy Chase Capital One on Connecticut Avenue was hit. Then about 1 mile away, 5 minutes later, the Kensington BB&T on University Boulevard was robbed.

Virginia school volunteer convicted of child porn possession

At a Manassas middle school a former volunteer has been convicted of producing child pornography. On Thursday a jury in Alexandria convicted David Alexander Battle II, 24, of multiple counts with a minimum sentence of 15 years. The 24-year-old was a volunteer at Metz Middle School in Manassas in their music program. According to prosecutors, Battle personally knew two of the boys, whom he would chat online with when he would pose as a young girl so boys would send him sexually explicit images of themselves.

Two gunmen with one rifle kills 6 at a cookout

In Wilkinsburg, PA two gunmen acted together in an attack and murder of six people at a backyard cookout.  Among the six victims, a pregnant woman was also killed. “The murders were planned. They were calculated, brutal,” said District Attorney Stephen Zappala. The medical examiner officially ruled the death of the fetus as a homicide, bringing the number to six total deaths. The dead included three siblings, Brittany Powell, 27, Jerry Shelton, 35; and Chanetta Powell, 25. The other two were Shada Mahone, 26, and Tina Shelton, 37.

Ben Carson endorses Donald Trump

The retired neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate Ben Carson is now endorsing Donald Trump. During a debate the real estate mogul answered questions regarding education, and he added light-heartedly that Carson is “endorsing me, by the way, tomorrow morning.” Carson is now the second former Republican presidential candidate to endorse Donald Trump, after New Jersey Governor Chris Christie did so last month.

ENTERTAINMENT

“Chumlee” arrested in Vegas after finding drugs and weapons

One of the characters from the TV show “Pawn Stars” was arrested on Wednesday in Las Vegas, Nevada. Austin Lee Russell, aka “Chumlee”, was charged with possession of a firearm and numerous drug charges. Lee Russell, who is part of sexual assault investigation, was warranted for a search at his home. Officer Larry Hadfield said, “During the course of the search warrant service, several illegal items, including methamphetamine, marijuana and firearms were located.” Officer Hadfield added that Russell has not been charged with sexual assault.
