Firm lobbies for high-speed rails in DC

Northeast Maglev is a Washington company paying hundreds of thousands to various lobbying firms in an effort to bring it’s high-speed, magnetic levitation rail system to the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Prior attempts were thwarted by lack of enthusiasm in congress and cost challenges.

The trains are friction free, as they “float” over the rails with a magnetic buffer. Maglev’s lobbying campaign says the region could greatly benefit from these super-fast and technologically advanced rail systems–currently only found in China and Japan.
