Virginia – Warship to be ready in November

0

After two years of delay, the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier is scheduled to be delivered to the Navy in November. According to a Navy statement, issues with the aircraft carrier are still being resolved. The statement said testing is being done on the ship’s electrical systems and propulsion plant stream. The Navy says Huntington Ingalls, the shipbuilding company building the USS Gerald R. Ford, has been performing well. The ship is being built in Newport News and has a price tag of $12.9 billion. As of June, the ship’s construction is 98 percent complete. If additional issues arise during testing, the Navy says the delivery date may need to be revised again.
