A Richmond man in his 60s is reportedly the first human case of West Nile virus this year after a doctor discovered his illness at a hospital. According to Dr. Danny Avula, who is with the Richmond City Health District, the man spent roughly a week in the hospital after reporting that he felt sick.
The man admitted that he spent a lot of time working outdoors. West Nile is a virus often spread by mosquitoes. One person in Alexandria died from West Nile last year.
