More than $60,000 worth of personal items and computers were stolen from the Palo Alto, California home of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who died in October 2011. According to Scott Tsui, the supervising deputy district attorney for Santa Clara County, Kariem McFarlin, 35, of Alameda was arrested and charged with residential burglary and selling stolen property. McFarlin has been held in the Santa Clara County jail on a $500,000 bail pending a court hearing on Monday, Tsui said.

The burglary occurred on July17, and McFarlin was arrested on August 2, although details on both occurrences are now becoming public. Jobs’ home was vacant during its renovation in July. “It appears to be a random deal,” Tsui told CNN. “We don’t have anything to show that (Jobs’ family) was targeted.” The prosecutor said McFarlin was likely unaware of the significance of the home.
