Two separate cases of child abuse have surfaced in Maryland and Virginia after two parents locked their children in their cars to go gambling.

According to Anne Arundel police, 24-year-old Alicia Denice Brown was charged with second-degree child abuse after locking her 4-year-old in her car at Maryland Live! casino in Hanover, Maryland for 8 ½ hours while she gambled.

The child was about to be taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center when the mother came back to the vehicle and confirmed she was the child’s mom.

Police released the child to a family member.

This case takes place after a similar incident in Virginia where James Bentley was charged with two counts of child endangerment after leaving his 10-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter locked in his car while he gambled in Crystal City.
