Maryland – Man killed after shooting match with Baltimore officers

A man was fatally shot after Baltimore police officers responded to the sound of gunshots near an apartment building. The man was firing at the officers with an AR-15-style rifle. Police spokesman T.J. Smith said no officers or other civilians were wounded in the Thursday night shooting. “Officers were drawn due to gunfire; were they specifically drawn there by him if they might have known they were in the area? We don’t know the answer to that yet, but that’s something that we’re trying to figure out,” Smith said. He said processing the crime scene would take several hours and that police are looking into the “theory” that the man was trying to lure officers to the scene with gunfire.
