Award-winning singer Lauren Hill will be sentenced on Monday for federal tax charges in New Jersey. Last year, Hill pleaded guilty to not paying taxes for $1.8 million earned between 2005 and 2007. Hill only paid $50,000 of the $500,000 that she owed.
Hill has recently signed a contract with Sony records and released a song on iTunes last week. Hill has signed a contract in order to help pay off her taxes. Hill has not released much music since her album in 1998, “The Miseducation of Lauren Hill”, which won 5 Grammy awards.
Hill faces up to a year in prison for each count of failing to pay off taxes.
