Vienna, Virginia (July 18, 2017)Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announces the 2017 Wolf Trap Ball, to be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 on the Filene Center stage at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Hosted in partnership with the Embassy of Monaco and in cooperation with the National Park Service, this year’s Ball honors the thriving arts and culture of Monaco. As Wolf Trap Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, the Ball and its proceeds benefit the Foundation’s nationally recognized arts and education programs.

Her Excellency Maguy Maccario Doyle, Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco to the United States, will serve as Honorary Host for the evening. The Ball is co-chaired by Nancy Laben and Jon Feiger and Karen and Fred Schaufeld.

“Wolf Trap Foundation is thrilled to partner with the Embassy of Monaco for our largest fundraiser of the year. Monaco has an exceptional dedication to the arts, and we are grateful to Her Excellency Maguy Maccario Doyle for her involvement in this event and for her support of the Wolf Trap mission,” said Wolf Trap Foundation President and CEO Arvind Manocha.

“Monaco and Wolf Trap have a great cultural and artistic synergy, so it is with great pleasure the Embassy agreed to partner at this year’s Ball to benefit the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. Monaco’s legacy of excellence in the performing arts dates back to the late 1800s and into the 20th century with our philharmonic, opera and ballet companies evolving. Monaco is still a creative hub for musicians, artists and dancers, and we do have our own outdoor spaces and national treasures like Fort Antoine, the courtyard of the Prince’s Palace, the Grimaldi Forum, and the Monte-Carlo Opera House to inspire the imagination.

“We couldn’t speak of the arts and Monaco without mentioning American-born Princess Grace. During her lifetime she was a great mentor and patron of young artists and her legacy continues today through the Princess Grace Foundation-USA which supports emerging artists in film, theatre and dance. We look forward to a spectacular Ball in September when we will celebrate the performing arts and our two countries’ friendship. Princess Grace would be so proud that the two countries which meant so much to her are united to encourage creativity in the human spirit and use the power of the arts to educate our youth and for the betterment of society,” said Her Excellency Maguy Maccario Doyle, Ambassador of Monaco to the United States.

Wolf Trap and the Embassy have crafted an evening that celebrates the arts, culture and cuisine of Monaco. Upon entering, guests will see the Filene Center stage – one of the largest in the nation –transformed into a glittering, luxurious panoramic of Monaco, including the famed Opéra de Monte Carlo and the courtyard of the Prince’s Palace. Guests will be immersed in Monaco’s culture – which is highly influenced by its neighbors Spain, France, and Italy – through the magnificent décor and authentic cuisine. Inspirations for the evening include Princess Grace, and the expansive and beautiful Fontevieille Park and Princess Grace Rose Garden. Dancing to live music is a highlight of the evening, and guests may participate in a raffle for a chance to win a luxurious four-night stay for two at Hôtel de Paris in Monte-Carlo, including round trip business class airfare and helicopter transport to the hotel.

The Wolf Trap Ball benefits the Foundation’s renowned arts and education programs, including the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts and Wolf Trap Opera. Wolf Trap Foundation has served millions of preschool and kindergarten children, teachers, and caregivers around the country and abroad using performing arts disciplines to enhance academic and social skills. Similarly, Wolf Trap’s artistic programs range from eclectic multi-genre performances to classical, opera, and dance productions, including initiatives to commission new works and programming that reflect the culture and diversity of the Washington, D.C. region.

Each year, the Wolf Trap Ball attracts a diverse guest list of philanthropic, business, political, and cultural leaders, and generates more than $1 million in support of Wolf Trap Foundation’s arts and education programs. Approximately 800 guests are expected to attend this year’s Ball, including members of the Diplomatic Corps, the President’s Cabinet, the U.S. Congress, state and local governments,  philanthropic leaders, and executives from national and international businesses.
