After many months of unconsciousness and after she was found unresponsive in a bath tub, Bobbi Kristina Brown died at the age of 22 on Sunday, July 26.

The daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, she died at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. The 22-year-old had been unresponsive with severe brain damage since she was discovered on January 31. With the immense fame of her parents, who were married in 1992, Bobbi Kristina — born in 1993 — spent much of her life in the spotlight.  She lived with her mother after her parents’ 2007 divorce and after Houston’s death in 2012 by accidental drowning,  a 19-year-old Bobbi Kristina, at the time, became the heir to Houston’s entire estate worth $115 million.

In 2012, she caused controversy when she began dating Nick Gordon, who lived with her family from the age of 12. Although there were reports that they married in 2014, Bobby Brown’s lawyer has denied it. Bobbi Kristina’s conservators recently sued Nick Gordon for $10 million. The civil lawsuit claims that Gordon manipulated and abused her, as well as transferred much of her money to his private account. The lawsuit also alleges that Bobbi Kristina was going to meet with someone about her unhappiness in her relationship with Gordon on January 31 before the couple engaged in an argument that left Brown unconscious with head injuries. No criminal charges have been filed against Gordon.

Bobbi Kristina’s death comes shortly after the birth of her half-sister. Bobby Brown and his wife Alicia Etheridge welcomed their daughter, Bodhi Jameson Rein Brown, on July 9.
