Voting equipment to get tested in D.C.

Before residents in Washington, D.C. head to the polls to vote for the April 3 primary, election officials are testing the voting equipment. The D.C. Board of Elections expect to conduct a public test on Saturday of the voting equipment and software that are used to count the votes. Questions will be answered by officials as they distribute poll watcher and election observer badges that allow access to early voting centers and to the polls.

Each caucus and primary serve significance in this 2012 campaign cycle, due to the intensity of the competition within the GOP presidential race. Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, and Mitt Romney are all fighting for the Republican nomination to battle President Barack Obama in the general election.
