Mayor Gray: D.C. bid for 2024 Olympics should include other cities

After the Washington, D.C. region failed in an attempt to get the 2012 Summer Olympics back in the 1990s, Mayor Vincent Gray is speaking on bidding for the 2024 Olympic Games. Gray also says if anyone is seriously considering the Games for this region, the area needs to expand.

“I think you’d have to go as far away as Philadelphia,” the mayor said. “I think you’d have to go as far south as Richmond to do this effectively.” Gray said he would want to ensure any construction for the Olympics had future use. “The stadia that are build, the indoor arenas, the pools and all of those and then what happens to them in the aftermath.”
