After undergoing heavy speculation, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation made an announcement on Friday that it will revise a policy that was set to cut grants from Planned Parenthood. The foundation will no longer forbid organizations that are under government investigation from eligibility for grants. Planned Parenthood will once again be eligible for Komen grants.

In a statement made on Friday morning, the Komen foundation said, “We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women’s lives.” The foundation reportedly stated that the grant criteria will be amended “to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.” Due to the controversy of the grants for Planned Parenthood, the Komen foundation has lost $50,000 of corporate sponsorship for a fall run, Race for the Cure.
