The investigation into a woman’s death following her procedure at a Germantown abortion clinic has been closed.
The Maryland Board of Physicians conducted its investigation after an anti-abortion group filed a claim against physician LeRoy Carhart alleging that insufficient care and procedures led to the death of the 29-year-old patient who had a late-term abortion at the clinic and died a few days afterward.
A completed autopsy deemed natural causes as the cause of death in the case. The patient was suffering from a rare condition affecting her blood system.
According to state health officials, “no deficiencies” were uncovered in regards to her treatment at the clinic.
