Jennifer Lopez sues former driver for extortion

Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez filed a lawsuit against her former driver and head of security, Hakob Manoukian, Friday in Los Angeles. Lopez, 43, claims Manoukian tried to blackmail her by threatening to reveal damaging information he’d obtained about her during his time of employment with the “I’m Real” and “Jenny from the Block” singer. The famed Puerto Rican entertainer and former “American Idol” judge is asking for $20M dollars in damages brought on by extortion, attempted extortion, breach of oral contract and breach of written contract among other infractions.

According to the suit, Manoukian worked for the “Wedding Planner” and “Selena” actress for nearly a month before quitting due to a dispute with her management team. Shortly thereafter, in October 2011, he engaged in “blackmail, extortion, and related acts.”

Lopez’s suit is actually a counterclaim made against a complaint filed by Manoukian, in which he said that he was forced to resign from his position after being denied “production pay” that he claims was due to him. Manoukian also said that Lopez’s manager, Benny Medina, subjected him to humiliating treatment.
