The late Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband is on life support in a British hospital. According to Britain’s Sun newspaper, 30-year-old Blake Fielder-Civil was found choking on his vomit last week after a drinking session and a reported dose of heroin. His girlfriend, Sarah Aspin, told the newspaper that Fielder-Civil had suffered multiple organ failure and that doctors had put him in a coma.

“I’m praying he’ll survive but I’m having to prepare myself that he may never wake up,” Aspin was quoted as saying.

Winehouse’s father Mitch asked for prayers from his daughter’s fans. “Terrible news about Blake this morning. Remember Amy loved him. Let’s pray for his recovery. Mitch,” he wrote in a Twitter posting.

Fielder-Civil and Winehouse had a rocky relationship, heavy in fights and drug use. The two divorced in 2009, after almost two years of marriage.

Winehouse’s second studio album, “Back to Black,” made her an international success. Songs like “Rehab,” “Back to Black” and “You Know I’m No Good,” helped the singer win five Grammy awards, tying the record with famed artists like Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé Knowles, Norah Jones, and Alison Krauss. The singer was found dead in her London home on July 23, 2011. The 27-year-old had passed away from an accidental alcohol poisoning. No illicit drugs were found in her system.
